Hungry Heart is seeking organized business owners/booth renters (independent chair and a shared chair) with an established clientele, looking to grow, laugh and work with two easy going professionals. We have a collaborative and open atmosphere that lends itself to a peaceful day of work in a light-filled room full of plants and art. Bring your clients to a place where they can rely on consistent care and attention to detail, but relaxed and easy so they may unwind, as you do, in such a lovely place.
The Position
Our desired candidate will be prepared to engage in a professional manner and take care of their own appointments as well as provide their own products for backbar, retail and chemical services. Hungry Heart provides the rest. We expect you to have a stable clientele with interest to build on that. Hungry Heart is an established salon with an ever increasing client interest and we would love to have trusted in-house stylists to refer them to when we cannot accommodate them.
The independent chair rental fee is $280/week growing to $325/week over the first year; this person would have 24/7 access for scheduling. The shared chair rental fee is $170/week growing to $200/week over the first year.
Must Have
Valid Virginia Cosmetology License &/or Barber’s License.
Proficiency with equipment needed to perform technical work.
Established clientele, with some room to grow.

Exceptional customer service with an ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis on listening.
Is excited to work independently while contributing to a collaborative environment.
Self-motivated cosmetologists/barbers with a positive attitude.
Trustworthy enough to work independently.
Acute attention to cleanliness.
Respect for the shared space.
Dedication to continuing education.

Hungry Heart Hair was founded in 2019 by Kate Montgomery. Kate’s passion for connection and community, alongside her love for lived-in, beautiful hair were the ethos for opening up her own space for clients with all backgrounds and hair types. Kate and Erin have been working together in this space since opening day, and in other salons, for many years. We are committed to personal growth and educating ourselves to be good stewards of privilege and opportunity. We recognize our lack of oppression and use our voices to uplift those who have been silenced and marginalized in our community.
